Why a RZR instead of an ATV?

Most people who search for an ATV want the same thing: to drive themselves through the desert and get a little dusty. A side-by-side does that, and for most groups it's the better machine.

  • Ride together: 2- and 4-seat RZRs, so nobody waits at the shop
  • Roll cage and seatbelts on every seat
  • A steering wheel and pedals like a car, easy for first-timers
  • Passengers can sit back and take photos instead of holding on
  • GPS navigation, so you can be your own guide

Compare safety: ATV vs. RZR

Both machines need care and common sense. These are the general design differences between a typical sport ATV and a Polaris RZR side-by-side (UTV/ROV):

FeatureTypical ATVPolaris RZR side-by-side
Roll-over protectionNone; the rider is exposedRoll-over protective structure (roll cage)
SeatbeltsNoneSeatbelts for every seat
Occupant retentionNoneFull doors that help keep arms and legs inside
Riding positionStraddle the seat; rider shifts body weight to balanceSit in a bucket seat, like a car
StabilityNarrow, higher center of gravityWider stance, lower center of gravity

Safety on any off-road vehicle comes down to wearing the belt, keeping limbs inside, driving at a sensible speed and staying on marked trails. For general safety guidance, see the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) and the CPSC ATV Safety Information Center.

Frequently asked questions

Do you rent ATVs?

No. Ultimate Desert Adventures does not rent ATVs. We rent Polaris RZR side-by-sides (2-seat and 4-seat only) for self-guided off-road tours near Las Vegas. Guests often search for an ATV tour or ATV rental and find that a RZR is the better fit: seatbelts for every seat, and full doors that help keep arms and legs inside, plus a roll cage and car-like steering wheel and pedals.

Is this a tour or a rental?

It is a self-guided RZR rental with GPS navigation. You drive yourself on marked desert trails—no guide and no group tour. Pick your adventure, book online, and explore at your own pace.

Is a RZR the same as a UTV or dune buggy?

A Polaris RZR is a side-by-side UTV (also called a ROV). People sometimes call them dune buggies. Unlike a typical ATV you straddle, a RZR has side-by-side seating, a steering wheel, pedals, seatbelts for every seat, and full doors that help keep arms and legs inside.

How far is it from the Strip?

Our shop is at 250 S. Moapa Valley Blvd, Overton, NV 89040—about an hour northeast of the Las Vegas Strip (around 62 miles). Prefer not to drive? Book the 3-Hour Adventure + Round-Trip Shuttle. We pick you up at 8:45 AM in the shuttle, Lyft, and Uber area by the Resorts World self-parking garage near the Conrad, in a 10-seat or 5-seat van (about an hour each way), and you are back around 3:45 PM. The shuttle runs only with that package.

Who can drive and ride?

Drivers must be 18 or older and show a valid driver's license at check-in. If anyone under 18 is riding, the renter must be 25 or older. Passenger minimum height is 42 inches for the XP 1000 and Xpedition, and 48 inches for the Turbo. No experience is needed. Everyone wears a helmet and goggles (provided), attends the safety briefing, and signs the Polaris digital waiver before check-in. No alcohol before or during the ride. Arrive 15 minutes early—doors lock at the start time. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

What's included and what should I bring?

What's included: a premium Polaris RZR, helmets, goggles, safety briefing, GPS routes and satellite tracking. Each RZR has a shaded roof and cooler. You ride directly from our shop to the trails—no guide, groups, set pace, or trailer needed.

What to bring: a valid driver's license, closed-toe shoes, and long shirts and pants for a safe, comfortable ride. Bring a neck gaiter or bandana for dust to wear beneath your helmet (helmet and goggles are always provided). Pack extra layers like a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt in case of weather changes, and feel free to bring a backpack with water, snacks, bug spray, and sunscreen.

How does pricing and payment work?

Prices are per vehicle, not per person. Starting prices are shown on this page; the final price and availability appear when you book online. A temporary authorization hold of $3,000 (or $1,500 with Premier Protection) is payable by cash, debit, or credit. Changes and cancellations are by phone only at 702-952-1633.

When can I ride Gold Butte and Logandale?

The 6-hour Gold Butte National Monument and 6-hour Logandale Trail System adventures are seasonal, October 1 through April 30. All other tours run all year long, rain or shine. Check dates when you book online.
